Update day: 12-04-2023From April 9th to 12th, 2023, Dr. Bui Ngoc Son, Asian Law professor at the Faculty of Law, Oxford University and Research Fellow of St. Hugh's College, Oxford University, visited and collaborated with the University of Law, Hue University on the topic of "International Publishing Exchange: Advancements in 21st Century Asian Law Studies".
Represented to the Board of Hue University of Law, Associate Professor Nguyen Duy Phuong gave speech and stated that the dissemination of scientific research in high-quality international journals is an essential trend for the advancement of science and knowledge on a global scale. Moreover, the number of articles published in international journals is used to measure and compare the scientific performance of universities, research institutes, and even nations. This necessity is particularly relevant for young lecturers at the Faculty of Law, who are encouraged to prioritize publishing their research in reputable international journals to enhance their academic credibility and contribute to the growth of the field.

In Vietnam, international scientific publication data have been used by most universities, research institutes, scientific and educational agencies to evaluate the research achievements of scientists, lecturers, and to rank universities. It is an important standard for evaluating the title of professor, associate professor, and other academic positions. With the significance of international dissemination, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Duy Phuong hopes that the discussion on the topic with Prof. Bui Ngoc Son will propose solutions to promote and improve the quantity and quality of international scientific publications in higher education institutions.
According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, the University of Oxford is ranked first in the world, followed by Caltech University and Harvard University (tied for second). This marks the fourth consecutive year that the University of Oxford has topped the rankings.
Professor Bui Ngoc Son was previously an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies of the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. He has also held research positions at prestigious law schools such as Harvard University (USA), the University of Melbourne (Australia), and Tsinghua University (China). It can be said that Professor Bui Ngoc Son is among the Vietnamese scholars who have made significant contributions to Western scholarship.

In open discussions, young lecturers at the Faculty of Law, Hue University focused on solutions to improve the quantity and quality of international publications. The proposed solutions center around motivating and encouraging scientists, officers, lecturers, and students to participate in research, as well as promoting connections and expanding the international research network. Additionally, the solutions aim to support lecturers and students in accessing leading international research organizations and experts. These efforts aim to strengthen the academic capacity of the faculty and to foster academic collaboration with scholars at renowned universities worldwide.
